.Apart from marine life, the contaminated water affects humans also. Water pollution gives rise to a number of waterborne diseases. Since water pollution has become a cause of major diseases, it has been a topic, which is being discussed globally.
According to studies, 14,000 people die everyday due to diseases caused by contaminated water. Further researches have shown a pitiful result where proper toilet facility is not accessible to around 700 million people living in India. The same way, diarrheal sickness exploits approximately 1,000 lives of Indian children everyday.
China is also moving in the same direction. More than 90 percent of cities in China are directly or indirectly affected by water pollution. Around 500 million people are unable to have access to safe drinking water.
With these developing countries, industrialized and developed ones like the US also are suffering with the same problem. A latest research done on water quality in some of the US states show interesting facts. 45 percent, 47 percent and 32 percent of stream miles, lake acres, and bay and estuarine square miles are polluted respectively.
Entrance of anthropogenic pollutants also causes contamination of water. The polluted water becomes no more useful for human beings and if it used without proper purification, causes severe diseases.
