Following are some of the diseases caused by water pollution:
Cholera is one of the major diseases. When the small intestine is infected, it leads to diarrhea, which results dehydration, which is lack of water in the body. Diarrhea may cause deaths. Infants and seniors are most prone to this disease.
When the contaminated water is taken inside the body, harmful bacteria present in the water multiply in the body. These bacteria can cause intestinal hemorrhage and failure of the kidney if proper treatment is not provided. The disease is known as typhoid.
Worms lying in intestines can further affect lungs. These worms are known as hookworms. The lack of nutrients and inadequate protein may ultimately block the activities of the immune system.
Africa alone shows the importance of water and drawbacks created from its pollution. One billion people every year are unable to have access to clean drinking water. Around 50 percent of people there invite water related diseases. Polluted water causes death of one child every 3 seconds in Africa. Sanitation is not accessible to 2.5 billion people.
Thus, we need to know the negative effects of water pollution, and should try to control this pollution with our continuous efforts.
