The causes for soil pollution are rising day by day. The wastes released from industries like chemicals and harmful gases are proving greater threat to the land and water. There is also great ignorance regarding soil management. Even irrigation methods are very bad and detrimental to soil. Septic system is very lousy with a very poor management and maintenance causing much leakage from the sewage. Even fuel leakages are aplenty and causing much damage to the soil. Due to the larger dumping of sewage, rivers and soil are getting polluted.
The mounting affects of pollution of soil and rivers are very alerting as the ecological balance is so much disturbed. These are very important results of soil pollution. The soil’s fertility is very much decreased and hence the yield is also decreased. Soil loses continuously the nutrients those needed by the plants and trees. As the soil is gradually getting eroded, there is a great threat to the flora and fauna. Even the crops and plants grown on such lands pose great health hazards.
Apart serving the intended purpose the pesticides and fertilizers are causing much harm to the birds and animals of the surroundings making them to flee away or die. Hence there is ecological imbalance paving to the doom of all living beings.
