According to a survey and research conducted by the Natural Resources Defense Council, more than sixty four thousand people in the United States may be led to premature deaths due to cardiopulmonary conditions. This can be caused by air pollution. Air pollution has also been blamed for the worsening condition of asthmatic patients.
There are several factors that lead to air pollution like industries that burn coal for their industrial processes, factories that produce toxic chemicals like gases, and also vehicles that run on diesel and petrol. All these put together are causing air pollution at an alarming rate, and leading to global warming. Other than the environmental damage, air pollution can also cause health problems in human beings.
Today, it is believed that more than 60 percent of respiratory infections that occur in newborn babies could be due to air pollution and exposure to secondary polluted air. Some of the pollutants that are harmful for human beings are coal emissions, sulfur and nitrous oxides, gasoline emissions, exposure to gases caused by burning wood, and in general smog. Smog includes everything else like the pollution caused due to the vehicles and industries. There are other sources like food crop which is grown or farm animals which live in polluted environments can cause harm when consumed by people.
