| Type Of Pollution
There are many different types of pollution which can be caused by gases, liquids, noise, particulate matter, light, heat or even solids. All these pollutants give rise to different types of pollution in their own way. Sometimes, some types of chemicals are present naturally in the environment. However, due to human activities, the amount of the chemicals increase, and it is then that the chemicals become dangerous for humans, animals and plants. |

Here are the four types of pollution that are commonly seen:
Air Pollution: This type of pollution is usually caused by gases that are released by power plants, vehicles and factors. The most common gases to pollute the environment are carbon dioxide and methane. Particulate matter also contributes to air pollution. For instance, small particles of asbestos are detrimental to human health. Air pollution, today, is caused mainly by oil refineries, power plants, burning coal and other types of fossil fuels, using automobiles and other vehicles, burning of refuse in incinerators, using aerosols, and chemicals used in many manufacturing processes.
Water Pollution: When pollutants find their way into oceans, lakes, rivers and groundwater, it is known as water pollution. The same pollutants that cause air pollution are also responsible for water pollution. In addition, fertilizers, pesticides and human waste contribute to water pollution. In many places in the world, due to this type of pollution, there is no potable water available.
Soil Pollution: Soil can get polluted due to chemical fertilizers, pesticides, heavy metals and even municipal dumps and landfills. Some of the pollutants from the soil tend to find their way into groundwater sources, and thus, end up causing water pollution. Today, soil pollution is mainly caused by strip mining, commercial farming and landfills.
Radioactive Contamination: This type of pollution is actually radiation from uranium mining, nuclear plants, weapon manufacturing industries and uranium refinement industries. This type of contamination not only affects the place where the original contamination has taken place, but also places that are hundreds of miles away. Radioactive contamination is extremely harmful to humans, animals and plants. It leads to birth defects, cancer, breathing problems and death.
