Batteries Big Barrier for Reducing Price Of Hybrid Cars
| A hybrid car refers to a car that combines traditional propulsion system with rechargeable energy storage system (RESS). The goal of hybrid car invention is to achieve best fuel economy and protect the environment. |

Most hybrid car is designed to use electric batteries and internal combustion engine (ICE) to power the vehicle. Hybrid car use the technology of regenerative braking to recapture energy to use with electrical accessories in the car like air conditioning.
One of the most important advantages of hybrid car is its smaller gasoline engine. Most traditional automobiles need a relatively large engine to accelerate quickly. The downside of big engine is its weight. The car with big engine will need extra energy every time when it goes up the hills. Furthermore, big engine vehicle will need heavier pistons and heavier other components. On the other hands, smaller engine in a hybrid car will improve fuel efficiency, reducing the number of cylinders, and improving engine performance. Comparing to traditional automobile, hybrid car can get better mileage for the same amount of gas driving at the same speed.
While there are many advantages to a hybrid car, larger batteries and starter motors are big barrier for reducing price of hybrid cars. The price of mass produced hybrid car are still expensive, because of the cost of the batteries are usually high.
