But the volume of the dump has been rising to million of tons. Hence, the release of it is literally unmanageable, and is posing a great threat to the environment and ecology.
The toxins or poisons of the dump are many. The first one is radioactive waste, which is a by-product of power generation and also of many other processes. The second one is chemicals, which are released by various industries. The chemicals are innumerable, but the chief ones are dioxins, polychlorinated biphenyls and vinyl chloride.
The waste generated by the hospitals and other medical facilities also because great threat to the community life and ecology. The various clinical instruments and needles with infected blood if not dumped properly, may spread dangerous pathogens around threatening serious diseases.
The fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides which are helpful for crop growth contain chemicals which get mixed with groundwater, and also go into the soil to pollute it along with air and water.
Even the household items like batteries, paints and florescent lamps, cleaners contain poisonous chemicals like mercury and nitrogen. Hence, their disposal must be done carefully. The unused and spoiled computers are now an added threat to the environment as their recycling is very difficult.
