Effects Of Toxic Waste

Toxin waste is nothing but dangerous waste that is harmful to the living organs. As it is difficult to recycle the wastes, these are buried under soil. These wastes can affect the human beings, plants and animals and the land and environment also.Though the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) gives certain instructions regarding the disposal of industrial waste, due to the negligence in disposal method, and unscientific disposal, this leaks into the environment and becomes very harmful to soil, flora and fauna.

The disposal of toxic wastes in the open is prohibited. The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act 1976(RCRA) clearly specifies the ways it should be disposed.

Toxic wastes very often mix with the municipal sewage waste. When the farmers make use of this as manure, those cannot be absorbed by the soil but crops absorb them and carry over to the human beings and animals or birds as they eat the food containing the toxins.

Thus, the toxins travel unknown distances and even infect far away soils as the seeds with toxins are used for plantations. Even dust clouds are proved to be containing dangerous metals and bacteria. It is reported by the studies of Arizona State University that these dust clouds having toxins can even travel from China and Africa to the US.

Toxins like DDT and Dioxin even though they are not soluble in water, dissolve quickly in the animal fat and resultantly can cause terrible sickness and spread it by becoming food for other living beings.

Even the domestic wastes like fluorescent light bulbs and batteries contain toxins. Hence, when they are disposed carelessly, they can cause health hazards.
