| What Is Soil Erosion ?
|
Soil erosion is a natural process and in a way is essential for the formation of the new soils. The rate of soil erosion is faster due to human activity. Soil erosion by water is a common problem in Europe. Soil being carried by the gushing rain water is a general phenomenon. This is faster than by any method. It removes the fertile top of the soil, and makes the land sterile. Hence, there will be loss of farm land due to soil erosion. |

Due to soil erosion, temporary or permanently eroded channels are created that can make the land divided. The soil driven off by the heavy rain water can inundate road ways, drainages and even homes.
When the top soil is taken away, the land yield reduces and in the due course of time the land becomes unfit for cultivation.
Improper agricultural methods, deforestation, too much grazing by the cattle, forest fires and increasing constructions are the primary causes for the soil erosion.
But different types of land use, fast occurring climate changes due to global developments make the soil erosion estimation a very important issue. For this, a very objective method must be employed. It must be repeated every time the conditions change. There must be some regulations in land utilization globally. This can give the total estimate of the cost of erosion presently and also in future. The effort can lead to further study of in the required fields and also can pave the way to find suitable solutions.
