| Climate Change And Sea Level Rise
Coastal areas around the world are facing problems due to climate change. Some of the main problems due to climate change are sea level rise, changes in the storms that occur in oceans and seas, loss of land, and flooding. |

In the US, it has been seen that along most of the coastal regions, sea level is rising. This phenomenon is also seen around the rest of the world.According to experts, the sea level rise along the Gulf Coasts and mid-Atlantic Ocean was around 5 to 6 inches more than the average rise around the world. The coastal lands in these areas in the US are shrinking as they are getting covered by rising sea water.
Due to global warming, temperatures around the world are increasing. This is leading to melting of the ice caps and glaciers. As a result, climate change is responsible for sea level rise. According to a report submitted by the International Panel on Climate Change, in the next century, the sea level around the world will rise somewhere between 0.6 feet and 2 feet (0.18 meters to 0.59 meters). However, there is some dispute over this report as all scientists and researchers do not agree with the report.
Nonetheless, climate change is a reality of global warming. This is definitely causing ice sheets to melt in colder reaches of the world. However, some of the reasons for rise in sea level are very old, and that is why the current sea level rise is also being attributed to these century-old reasons. At the same time, some of the reasons for increase in sea level are not dependent on just climate change.
However, in response to climate change and sea level rise, governments, environmental organization and ordinary people have to take steps to ensure that the adverse effects of the rise are diminished, or measures are taken to combat the effects of sea level rise.
