| Natural Causes Of Ozone Depletion
|
Ozone depletion is not a naturally occurring phenomenon. It is caused by humans, and their various uses of energy like fossil fuels and power. The ozone layer is located nearly 10 kilometers above the Earth. The stratosphere is completely filled with the ozone layer, and it extends from 10 kilometers to 50 kilometers above the earths surface. There are three layers of atmosphere above the Earth, and the stratosphere is the highest. |

The ozone layer is made up of oxygen molecules, and these molecules prevent us from the harmful rays of the sunlight. Sunlight has several different types of rays, and among them the ultraviolet rays are the most harmful to us. They can cause several skin conditions, including melanomas and skin cancer if exposed for a continual period of time.
The world realized that chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are the main reason for ozone layer depletion after a very long time. By then a lot of damage had been done to it. The ozone layer can easily be identified from space as it is a thick blue layer of gas present in the atmosphere. Scientists can see a big hole directly above Antarctica which has been a recent development in the last decade. There was no natural cause indicated for the depletion, but the main cause has been identified as the excessive usage of chlorofluorocarbons. The CFCs used by industries has caused the ozone layer to deplete by reacting with the oxygen molecules in the ozone layer. The other cause is emissions due to vehicle pollution.
