| Solutions To Acid Rain
|
There is scientific evidence that acid rain can be extremely dangerous for plants and animals, and can cause lasting and permanent damage to the ecosystem. Scientists and researchers have been trying to find solutions for global warming and other integral problems like acid rain for several years now. How to prevent acid rain is a much debated question between environmentalists and corporate. |

As a result, several people have invented mechanisms to prevent acid rain. Most of them are preventive measures that companies and industries have to take in order to reduce the sulfur and the nitrogen in the air. Industries are required to use less sulfuric substances and cause lower emissions. Also, they are advised to use coal that has low sulfur content. Power plants, who are the biggest users of coal, have to cut down their usage as well as find alternatives by using low sulfur content coal to prevent acid rains. There is also sulfur cleaning scrubbers available which can be used to scrub out the sulfur from the coal before using it. However, this would mean additional investment. Even if power plants agree, there are several industries whose coal usage is minimal and may not be willing to invest in a whole new plant for scrubbing out the coal.
Each solution presents its own kind of challenges. Acceptance is still low among major industries in spite of the evident environmental damage in the form of acid rain.
There are tradable emission permits that have been issued by the government to encourage various industries to reduce emissions.
