It causes severe chemical residues in the air and the raindrops attempt to clean it become acidic in the process. Sulfur and nitrogen, which are the residues of pollution, turn into acids when they come in contact with sunlight, water and air.
Acid rain causes severe health problems to human beings, and also other living begins like plants and animals. In humans, it is known to cause asthma, bronchitis, and also makes it hard for people with these conditions to breathe. Acid rain smells like a chemical, and people who live in the city where it is severely prone to acid rains will have more health problems. Some of the other ways in which humans can come under the harmful effects of acid rain is when they swim in lakes that are exposed to acid rain. It can cause severe skin infections or even diseases. Continual exposure to acid rain can also cause skin cancer. It is not only human beings who are exposed to diseases, but marine life also suffers tremendously due to acid rains. Acid rains contaminate the ocean and sea environment causing various lung diseases in sea animals.
