How Can We Prevent Desertification ?

Desertification is a process where the soil condition becomes bad due to removal of vegetation and loss of top soil. This phenomenon is prevalent in arid and dry sub humid regions of the world where human activities and climatic changes have led to desertification.The wet and dry forests in the tropics are being denuded due to overpopulation.

Desertification History

The Great Plains in the US is known as the Dust Bowl because of start of desertification. In the 1930s, the Great Plains were subjected to overgrazing and also experienced drought leading to the desertification. This saw many of the people living leaving their farms and homes, and moving to other parts of the country.
